I started this blog in September 2011, a couple of months after I’d stopped drinking. I was going to meetings then and just struggling to get a handle on the feelings and fears I had about staying sober. What I found online was an incredibly supportive community of people who were also not drinking, but going about it in a number of different ways. It was at once a wake up call and huge comfort to learn there is no one right way to get and stay sober.
Since June 2011, I have attended 12 step meetings, quit 12 step meetings, taken up running, admitted it’s really jogging at best, eaten sugar like it was my job and found the most reward and solace writing here because of the connections with an amazing community.
I’m also a working mother and wife. Here is my How I Got Sober story. You may notice this blog is not always about sobriety and feel gypped if that’s why you visited. The bottom line is I am too lazy to start a new blog but mainly this: life without alcohol opens up in endless and surprising ways.
